GREETINGS I'm Anastasia, but you can call me Ana for short if you'd like. I am currently a freshman majoring in General Art Studies at ASU so this is my first year here. I was born In Washington state but I lived in Phoenix, Arizona since I was a year old. Growing up, I've always been into art and games, to me it was a whole new reality away from my own that I could escape to when things weren't so bright. Throughout my life, in addition to art, I was convinced I was going to become a Nurse and Major in Nursing since I really do enjoy helping and caring for people and because people told me it was a career that was going to pay my bills. However, recently I have decided I wanted to do more with my art and make that into a viable living, though many people doubt me especially since I come from a less wealthy background. So a part of me wants to prove them otherwise that anyone can be successful despite where they origin from in what they want to pursue. In late August and early September of 2015 is when concept art was introduced to me, since then, I've been putting endless hours and time into learning the basic fundamentals of drawing to grow my skill in art. Ever since I discovered digital art I've been hooked and I am just trying to get to a point where I can create beautiful art for games and film. I'm a sucker for games with a story like Bastion, Bioshock and Ori & the Blind Forest though some of these games I still have to finish playing (heh). I really like doing fantasy, sci-fi, futuristic art and just about any art genre in general, I want to be very versatile in my art. I also draw a lot of elves. I'm hoping this course can add or reinforce some knowledge about working with digital media in art. |
ARTISTIC INFLUENCESA lot of my artistic influence comes from many game artists and game art in general. I like the idea of being able to design characters and environments for games and films. Some of my favorite artists that I learn from are Feng Zhu, who's well known for concept art and another game artist called Dave Greco, whos a lead artist for Crowfall(mmorpg game), and many other artists as well.
Some movies like Lord of the Rings or any films in general that I find appealing I would try to use as for inspiration and ideas when creating art. LOTR mainly because of all the dwarves, wizards, and all the elves especially so it's very heavy in fantasy(Which I need to rewatch). Some animations that I've watched online are sources of inspiration for me when making art as well. For example "Bitey of Brackenwood" and "The Alchemists Letter" are two very distinct animation films, one film uses 2D while the other uses 3D animation. Though my biggest artistic influence comes from the people around me or that I watch online, if there is a certain look I like I try to incorporate that same style in my art. CULTURAL INFLUENCESSince I was a kid I've always held interest in art and video games. We had a Nintendo 64, Game Boy, and Xbox growing up so games were always apart of my childhood. I was introduced to WoW when I was younger which kind of influenced me to want to create art for games as well. A really close friend of mine use to draw, and she is what inspired me to want to learn and get as good as her. I also discovered this website Twitch, which is primarily for gamers however, there is a creative section where artists can host and stream their art for anyone to find. I feel that I owe a lot of credit to the creative community on twitch since it has exposed me to different kind of art styles and various painting methods.
