VIDEO EXERCISE
DUE TUESDAY 11/10
Objective:
To practice using a video camera, shooting different shots to create a single idea or narrative.
Practice and familiarize yourself with Premiere pro to import video, edit shots and export video.
Project Overview/Process:

Materials:
-Video recorder
-Adobe Premiere
-Headphones
-Hard Drive
(File organization is VERY important! Create a project folder and put all video, sound, and project materials and files in that folder!)
Inquiry:
What is the action/idea/ you are portraying?
Which four shots are you going to use to portray your action/idea?
Evaluation:
Exercise is worth 20 points due on Weebly

VIDEO EXERCISE

Project Overview/Process:
- Come up with a very basic narrative/One action.
- Use an HD video recorder to shot four different types of shots (angles) as seen on this website
Or GOOGLE - Types of video shots
- Edit them together in Premiere Pro
- Export. MOV or MP4 - makes sure audio and video are check marked to export. Check source and output tabs to make sure they visually match. Make sure the output is HD 1920x1080
- Embed or link file on your page.

Project Overview:
Create a 2 minute video (minimum)
Videos can range from abstract, avant-garde, experimental, natural to linear and documentary stories.
Implements some of your own creativity along with creative ideas from the art lecture, blog research and class discussion.
Must shoot or record your own footage and audio!
(Unless you talk to me about a specific appropriation plan. Example: historical, political, social commentary ideas)
Process -- Put together a timeline for this project and keep on task to ensure completion by the end of the semester!
After viewing Test and deciding location, lighting etc....
3. Create folders and download footage off of the camera.
4. Create Premiere pro project, import footage from folder to project.
5. Edit together.
6. Research and find tutorials to address technical issues. Write instructor!
7. Export
8. Post to You Tube or Vimeo to get Embed code

-Video Recorder -- You may use any camera. Borrow one of ours, use your own, iphone, webcam, but it MUST be justified to WHY you are using that device!
-Adobe Premiere, is the primary software for this project. If you know Adobe Audition for advanced sound editing, you are welcome to use it!
-Hard Drive and Excellent file management! (Make folders, make extra folders, label well, separated.)
-Headphones if you are going to work in class.

40 points possible on the IDM Grading Rubric
Must attend Critique!

- Create a rough storyboard, with shot lists for AT LEAST THE FIRST SCENE+
- Research! A location / build a location/Who? When? - Shoot test shots!
- Think out technical issues that may arise - stability, lighting, time
After viewing Test and deciding location, lighting etc....
- Create a plan for shooting the your full footage! Continue storyboard, schedule...
- Shoot Footage -- shoot MORE than you will need.
