salutations
I'm Grace Lear, but you can call me Jordan. Currently I am majoring in Design Studies with a focus on management. I just transferred after two years at Glendale Community College. I started attending college at age sixteen after receiving my GED.
I have been drawing all my life. My specialty is digital art, I grew up on Photoshop. I've also dabbled in sewing and cosplay, creating video games, basic animation, and creative writing. No matter what career I end up perusing, I just want to create.

CULTURAL INFLUENCES
I owe my biggest cultural influence to the fact that I grew up in Glendale, Arizona my whole life. Because that is where I met the love of my life, Maya, in the third grade. I always liked drawing, but after befriending her and seeing her art, it became more than a simple pastime. We helped each other grow, and worked together. The better she got the more she inspired me to get better as well. Maya and I have been dating for almost two years. Without her, I don't think I would be as passionate about art as I am today.
ARTISTIC INFLUENCES
As far as artistic influences goes, I can't think of anything that has influenced me more than animation. I've always loved cartoons growing up, and I still do now. Animated movies are a big thing for me as well. Practically the only movies I bother to see in theaters are animated. What really inspires me the most is looking at the process that goes in to making animation. I love concept art and storyboards, basically I love seeing all the work that goes in to producing the final result. There was a children's book at my elementary school library that I used to check out often. I've since forgotten the name of it, but It was a big factor in inspiring me. It was about two children's book authors, and how they went about making children's books. This book was where I first heard about concepts such as warm and cool colors, and landscape and portrait formats. Because of my love of cartoons I have a fairly "cartoon-y" style. I love rich colors, big expressions, wide eyes, and exaggerated poses. While I can do a realistic style if I have to, to me it feels more constricting. I love the freedom of not having to ground myself in reality. |
