Sound Art Blog Post
I chose this piece because it contains a strong political message, which is something that draws me in because I would like to be able to replicate strong political messages in my own work. The artist is young and contemporary, which I can relate to as well. I can imagine anyone witnessing his pieces in person would experience an overwhelming amount of emotion.
I chose this commercial because its use of repetition made it memorable to most people who have seen it. I realized when I looked it up that even though it is a video, and images often overpower sound, the imagery didn't look familiar. The sound, however, was very familiar.

Appropriation/Collage Artists
"Robert Colescott was an American painter. He is known for satirical genre and crowd subjects, often conveying his exuberant, comical, or bitter reflections on being African-American." I thoroughly enjoy Colescott's interpretation/parody of Les Demoiselles d'Avignon by Picasso. His style and colors are completely different, and the subject matter is altered just enough for a message to be conveyed.

Claire Fontaine
"A Paris-based collective founded in 2004, Claire Fontaine is named after a brand of French notebooks and stationery. In an attempt to identify the transformed position of “the artist”, Claire Fontaine has conceived of the “readymade artist,” which considers the contemporary artist as equivalent to Marcel Duchamp’s urinal or Andy Warhol’s Brillo Box. The collective has developed a practice in which existing forms and materials—such as ephemeral-object sculpture, installation, video, painting, infographics, and neon—are crafted into works that critique political and aesthetic norms of the art world."
Expressive Text
I chose these Snapchat stickers as an example of expressive text. These stickers are meant to express how you feel during certain "snappable" moments in your life, so I think they are a perfect demonstration of how energetic and descriptive a piece of text can be.
Fonts
The first font is called "fashion font." I chose this one to represent myself because I am just now really beginning to identify with being a Fibers artist. The fibers and fashion world naturally intertwine, and I find myself loving fashion as an art form more and more every day. I chose the second font because I find it very interesting. It reminds me of "The Great Gatsby," and I am drawn to its simple, yet detailed line-work.
